Ah, the joys and woes of jewelry organizing!
If you're anything like me, you have tons of GORGEOUS jewelry (especially from fabulous local designers like Queen Bee), and storing and organizing it all is an ongoing process. There are some great products out there that I highly recommend and will discuss in another post, but I'm here to tell you that you don't have to go out and invest in something highly complicated.
One great way to organize necklaces, even on just an interim basis, is to use shower curtain rings! My favorite way to do this is to put the shower rings on a hanger - that really expands the amount of storage space you can get out of an existing hanging rod. This idea also works for baseball hats, hair elastics, belts, bags, scarves, baby shoes, even bras ;)
Another fast fix I love for organizing the bathroom area is to use a chain of shower curtain rings and hang a basket at the end for shampoos, soaps, etc. (What's great about this is that you can make the chains different lengths and different colors for the various users of that shower). Note that this can work on an existing shower rod or you can add a second one to the shower to house this collection. You can also add extra rods for this purpose to your closet or wardrobe.
If you want to take it a step further, you also can thread the ring through the wing of a binder clip, and then use the binder clip to hold a small lightweight bag. An example of how to use this would be if you are a crafter, for example, and have lots of little pieces to keep track of. Organize the pieces into ziploc baggies, close the baggies, clip them at the top with a binder clip, and then thread the binder clip onto a shower ring. The ring can then go on a curtain rod, closet rod, hanger, etc.
And, finally, shower rings can work great in the kitchen! Use them on a drawer handle and hang from then anything you use on regular basis (potholders, towels, rags, even spray bottles!) You can also hang from then a bucket or basket or bag and then use that to containerize things you might want to have handy like rubber bands, small tools, baggies, etc. Sometimes this solution isn't the prettiest one around, but it sure comes in handy and can be a great interim organizing solution while you're deciding on a more permanent fix. It's all about making that space so grace can eventually enter :)
